Learn that your addictions were only an effort to block out what was really hurting you, that you need to dig deep to uncover and resolve the core issues that led to your addictions in order to stop the repeating patterns. Learn that "Progress, Not Perfection" is important. Find understanding, love, and compassion. For some people AA and NA meetings may complicate their lives more and possibly lead to relapses because of associating with (and dating) other addicts, so finding help online and having someone supportive to call or email or blog with can sometimes offer a good alternative to meetings. May you find the help you need. Never give up. If you take one step back, simply take two steps forward and try, try again. All it takes is to be ready and willing.
